Today Kieron; IRSE! release their progressive shoegaze freakout, Ruination, onto an unsuspecting world. The album was produced by Juho Vanhasen of the Blocland approved psychedelic black metal band, Oranssi Pazuzu. Much like Oranssi Pazuzu. Kieron; IRSE! seem to be appalled by the very notion of fitting squarely into an easily definable genre. Some how two genres that have completely opposite goals can mingle together and form a cohesive whole in the Kairon universe. I know that sounds whacky, but it gets even weirder. The band has no problem with making room for a free jazz workout mid song or jumping reference points from Frank Zappa to Built to Spill. We can play spot the influence all day, but none of that matters if you can’t find your own vision. Luckily for Kairon; IRSE! none of that gets in the way of their own voice. They manage to sound like a mix of bands from all over the rock map and sound like no one else all at the same time.
Also, all proceeds from bandcamp are being donated to the ACLU today. Buy some music and donate to a good cause, if you can.
