Two years ago the Los Angeles saxophonist, Kamasi Washington, split heads wide open with the sprawling and ambitious triple-album, The Epic. The follow-up is a 37 minute piece titled “Harmony Of Difference” that was debuted at the Whitney Biennial with a companion short film shot by AJ Rojas. Washington has recently signed to Young Turks who are planning on releasing “Harmony Of Difference” as an EP of the same name. Now Washington has released a meditative 14 minute piece titled “Truth”. The track has most in common with the more subdued parts of The Epic while steadily building to the kind of explorative jazz climaxes he and the band specialize in. The track also has a video that covers a lot of things, but is mostly about diversity. It’s a moving set of visuals for an already affecting track. Watch it below.
