The Nashville doom unit, Loss, are set to release Horizonless this Friday. Horizonless will be their sophomore album and follow-up to 2011’s Despond. The band has now shared the title track. “Horizonless” is a hulking lurch that exemplifies just how seriously Loss take the doom genre tag. Loss’ doom is far more focused on sadness and more tangible and human interpretations of the word. At this point I feel more comfortable calling Loss funeral doom as opposed to the standard doom that most, including myself, tend to associate with opium dens. The track focuses on a pitch black take on depression and death. Do yourself a favor and get good and hyped for what is shaping up to be one of the key metal releases of the year.
Horizonless is out 5/19 on Profound Lore Records.
