Noise king Dominick Fernow is getting ready to release his new album under the Prurient moniker, Rainbow Mirrror. The album will be the followup to his 2015 masterpiece Frozen Niagara Falls and will be over three hours in length. Which is to say, it’s going to be a motherfucker, but I’m ready for it. Today, we’re being treated with the fourteen minute “Naturecum”. The track is far more drone oriented than the majority of the all out noise assaults found on Frozen Niagara Falls. But, this is still Prurient. It’s plenty noisy in the way a drill bit working its way out of your skull is noisy. Listen below and revel in the fact that it was released just in time for trick-or-treating.

Rainbow Mirror is out 10/1 on Hospital Productions and Profound Lore.

i will blast this on halloween. the kiddies will flock to my door for my candies

Good plan. Not as spooky as the monster mash but I think this will fit into some kind of smoke machine aided haunted house type scenario.

Not gonna lie … three hours of Prurient is really gonna test my limits for this stuff.

I suggest warming up with his sorta EP Through the Window. Specifically “You Show Great Spirit”. 13 minutes of Prurient at his most digestible. It’s the kind of song you can put on at a spooky Halloween dance party. Or if you ever find yourself in Blade type scenario with Ecstasy consuming vampires. Also see “A Meal Can Be Made” off Bermuda Drain.

Then go to Frozen Niagara Falls. It’s challenging but super worth it. The easiest tracks on that album would be “Dragonflies to Sew You Up”, “Every Relationship Earthrise”, and “Greenpoint”. I know I called him a noise musician but he’s a lot more than that. There’s a lot of abrasive stuff but he also does a healthy amount of ambient and darkwave tracks as well. He also says FNF is just love songs. I’ll let you be the judge of that though.

So at 3 hours I’m convinced that he’s going to be covering a lot of ground.

Never listened to the EP, but Frozen Niagara was awesome. I’ll give my ears the exercise and then maybe I’ll be able to handle this upcoming Prurient marathon.

Well I’m glad I’m not just screaming into the void about how great FNF is.
