Good news Bloclanders! After a week of teasing, Fever Ray is finally back. Fever Ray is the solo project of The Knife’s Karin Dreijer. We last heard from Fever Ray way back in 2009 with project’s classic self-titled debut album. With Fever Ray, Dreijer retained The Knife’s dark electronic while adding in touches of more accessible and straight forward synth pop. If you’ve never spent time with Fever Ray, we at Blocland highly recommend you take care of that as soon as possible. And now, Dreijer is sharing the project’s first bit of material since the aforementioned album. The new single is titled “To The Moon and Back” and comes along with a video.
The track shares the same kind of melodic ticks Dreijer worked with before, but is far more candy-coated than what you’d expect from Dreijer. But, then again, should really go into anything this woman does with any kind of expectations? The track also contains very Dreijer lyrics like “First I take you then you take me/ Breath some life into a fantasy/ Your lips, warm and fuzzy/ I want to ram my fingers up your pussy”. The video features Dreijer looking like a cenobite from Hellraiser and an unsettling tea party. Check it out below.
There’s no word on whether or not this will be part of an album or EP. For now, let’s just be happy Fever Ray’s back.
