The East Coast grindcore throat slashers, Full of Hell, are back with a new single off their upcoming album. The album is called Trumpeting Ecstasy and if this single is any indication, it’ll be a different animal entirely. Full of Hell seem to be making good on the promise presented on their debut album and various splits, EPs, and collaborations. That promise being, forward thinking grind. When you collaborate with Merzbow, are you ever going to be capable of putting out something that isn’t forward thinking? Something to ponder, indeed.
All we get is 58 seconds, but that’s all that’s needed to get this crustacean excited. It’s a dense concoction of swirling guitar lines, pummeling blast beats, and black metal lead vocals with death metal vocals backing things up. Oddly enough, it seems to me there’s much more emphasis on melody than any other grind that’s come out in recent memory. It doesn’t seem like it should work with all of the metal insanity going on, but it just does. If you’re a fan of ferocity that doesn’t sacrifice actual songs, this is for you.
Trumpeting Ecstasy is out 5/5. Pre-order it from Profound Lore Records.
