Hey new friends! How’s it going? Something you should know about us is we like Father John Misty – or as he instructed us to call him, Joshua- just as much as we like a little thing called “extreme metal”. You’re probably going to see a lot of extreme metal from here on out (D-Frye and I are dedicated). We hope that you either love it or learn to love it as much as we do. Anyway, let’s move on to your first metal post! < 3
The East Coast skull eaters, Full of Hell, are prepping to release Trumpeting Ecstasy next month. Trumpeting Ecstasy will be the group’s third full length album and the followup to the 2016 colloboration with The Body, One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache. They have now shared the album’s second single, “Crawling Back to God”. Full of Hell’s inherent sense of melody is on full display here. It’s that understanding of song craft that separates them in today’s crowded grindcore field and metal universe as a whole. But, that doesn’t mean they’re writing pop songs. “Crawling Back to God” pummels along with a steady stream of memorable riffs and unrestrained rage. There’s enough ideas at work to sustain it for longer than the 1:56 run time, but that’s all they need. Listen to it below then check to make sure your cranium is intact.
Trumpeting Ecstasy out 5/5 on Profound Lore Records.
