In honor of content week here at Blocland, and in honor of me not getting fined and sent to Canada, and in honor of the new Wolf Parade album coming out on October 6th, I figured I’d post a “Best of”, or at least all my favorites, of one of Canada’s greatest musicians.  You know Dan Boeckner from the aforementioned Wolf Parade, Handsome Furs, Divine Fits, and my personal favorite, Operators.  Check out the playlist below so I don’t get deported.

The debut by Wolf Parade came out 12 years ago. And with that release started the greatest geek debate in the history of mankind. #teamdan or #teamspencer? Those of use that are #teamdan took a beating those first few years as Spencer was seen as the more interesting and strange of the two. Dan’s detractors would say he was just a straight ahead rock guy and didn’t bring as much to the table. Fast forward to today and Spencer does have a really nice body of work under his belt. But Dan’s list of projects is VERY impressive. I’m not saying one is better than the other here. Us #teamdan guys don’t operate that way. 😉

I like Wolf Parade, but it’s actually my least favorite of Dan’s projects. I thought the style of Handsome Furs fit him better, and it seems like Operators is kind of the best of all his previous bands in one. #teamdan all day, err day.

I really think Wolf Parade is better than either on their own. They balance each other quite well. A perfect push/pull of feet on the ground and head in the clouds.

Wolf Parade is fine. I haven’t listened to Handsome Furs in years but I remember liking it.

Little shout out for his appearance on Preoccupations. Love that bit.
